About the Role
The Senior Cloud Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud network architectures. This position will play a key role in optimizing connectivity between on-premises infrastructure, cloud platforms, and global enterprise applications.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in cloud networking, automation, and security best practices, with proven experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud network solutions, including VPCs, subnets, routing, peering, and VPN connections.
- Build and maintain hybrid connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments using Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, or similar technologies.
- Configure and manage firewalls, load balancers, gateways, and network security groups.
- Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability; troubleshoot complex network issues.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) templates for network automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM.
- Collaborate with security and DevOps teams to ensure compliance, encryption, and identity management standards.
- Lead network-related projects for cloud migrations, multi-region deployments, and disaster recovery.
- Establish and document best practices, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of the infrastructure team.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking, including at least 3 years in cloud network engineering.
- Expert-level knowledge of cloud networking in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, VPN, and load balancing technologies.
- Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
- Familiarity with cloud-native firewalls, WAF, SD-WAN, and zero trust network access (ZTNA) concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a focus on reliability and performance optimization.
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate, CCNP/CCIE).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with container networking (Kubernetes, CNI, service mesh).
- Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
